Abbas Rehmanji - President

Educated as a Mechanical engineer, I began my career working in Kaluworks, where I managed the production of aluminum and steel utensils. My career path led to me to General Plastics, and I gained experience in injection/blow moldings. In 2001, I emigrated from Kenya with my family to Canada. I first found a home and an opportunity in Ontario, working with a reputable plastic packaging manufacturer, I learned the science (and art) of thermoforming. Those footsteps led me to British Columbia where the road of success truly began.

I met Cheryl at a plastic packaging company we both worked for in BC. When the time came for the company to close its doors, we were not ready to let go. Serious discussions over cups of strong coffee seemed to last for days. We knew that the two of us were just the right business partnership for our new manufacturing vision. We took courses, secured the machines we needed, hired amazing help in production and sales, and today we are building a new business.

At Vancore, I am able to practice my engineering skills, enjoy the challenges of business, and work with a great team.

Cheryl Marshall- Vice President

I moved to Southern California from BC with my folks when I was quite young. During my early working years, I had the privilege of working with my dad in the meat department at a number of the large and small stores, packaging the meat. I guess packaging is in my DNA.

I did switch career paths in my early twenties and began working with horses. I managed a 104-stall barn and ran my own five-acre farm in Langley. In those years, I bred Arabian and Morgan show horses. What a ride!

In 1998, I started my first business, Border Document Service, a processing serving company that delivers court documents for attorney’s.. I still maintain that company today although I leave the running to others.

When I began working at a local plastic packaging company, I met Abbas. When the opportunity to invest in a new venture arose it didn’t take much to convince me to join him. I am personally committed not only to providing the best plastic packaging I can deliver to our customers, but remain involved in researching, networking, lobbying, and educating the public to insure that we become more responsible in our use of packaging and better stewards of this planet.
